Terms of Service

Acceptance

By using Your Own AI you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. You must be 13 or older (16 in the European Union) and use the app lawfully.

The free app

The desktop app is free and open source (AGPL). Everything local - offline models, your AIs, memory, documents, records, backups to your own Flowsta Vault - is free and stays free. The app is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind.

AI answers can be wrong

AI models make mistakes and can state false things confidently. You are responsible for how you use their output. Nothing an AI says in Your Own AI is professional advice - medical, legal, or financial. The medical model helps you understand your own results and prepare questions; it never diagnoses. Always consult a professional for decisions that matter.

Paid plans (online models)

  • Plans add online frontier models and web search. Each plan includes a monthly usage allowance; usage beyond it is metered at the rates shown in the app, and monthly plans bill on the 1st with the first month prorated.
  • Content you send to an online model is forwarded to that provider and is subject to the provider's terms. Your identity is not.
  • Signing exported conversations uses signatures from your plan's quota. Verification is always free, for anyone.
  • Cancel anytime. Everything local keeps working exactly as before - plans only ever add.

Your data, your responsibility

Your conversations and AIs live on your device. With a Flowsta Vault they back up automatically on your machine; without one, your device is the only copy. Your Flowsta identity itself is protected by your recovery phrase, which only you hold - see the Flowsta Terms for what that means. We cannot recover data or keys for you: that is the design, not a limitation of support.

Acceptable use

Don't use the online services for anything creating direct legal liability (child sexual abuse material, credible threats of violence against specific people), for infrastructure abuse (automated attacks, evading rate limits), or in violation of the online model providers' policies. What you do with offline models on your own machine is your business - that's the point - but the law still applies to you.

If a plan is terminated

If we terminate a plan for abuse of the online services, the free app and everything local remain yours - we cannot take back the app, your data, or your records, and wouldn't if we could.

Your data is portable

Your Own AI's records run on Holochain under the Cryptographic Autonomy License: your data exports readable with its keys, and we impose no technical or legal restrictions on your use of your own data. Even if we ceased operating, the app and your data keep working.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before a claim. We are not liable for decisions made on AI output, for data on your device, or for the availability of third-party model providers.
